About

On the morning of 3 September 2020 I was a happily busy woman living in Hobart Tasmania with her husband, two gorgeous kids and a Smithfield cross named Rex. I was working 3 days a week as an Operations Manager, working two days on social work placement and studying for my Qualifying Masters of Social Work. When I left the Movement Disorders Clinic later that same day however, my life had fundamentally shifted. Heading home to tell my husband of my preliminary diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease was the hardest thing I have ever done.

I am one of thousands of Australians living with Parkinson's Disease. Like every serious disease, Parkinson's Disease and Young Onset Parkinson's Disease is challenging and at least temporarily upends people's lives. However, I am still a wife, a mum, a sister and work colleague and a friend. Life goes on. I still love camping, bush walking and showing our children the world around them.

We - all of us - are more than a disease or 'condition'.
