Living life on the Parky rollercoaster... Health Update Jan 2022

Hi everyone. I hope you are looking after yourselves; I wish you health and happiness for 2022 as we continue to navigate life with COVID. I've added a happy photo taken by my

daughter yesterday as my clips (especially the second) might be considered a little glum :(.

It's been a while since I posted an update. Unfortunately, as many of you know when you live with a chronic condition, you have up times and down times with your health. I've been experiencing some challenges, especially with my medication and what feels like increasing episodes of headaches or migraine.

It has been hard at times. Fortunately we were able to enjoy some time away camping over Christmas and New Years. I didn't anticipate however how hard it is to get the medication right. I don't know whether this is exacerbating my experience of headaches/migraines but it can't be helping.

I've never been a big headache person and I don't know how to handle them. I haven't found much in the PD literature either to suggest whether other people will start to experience them so I'm a bit lost. I will be checking in with my Parkinson's nurse if I can this week; as always however, I value hearing about your experiences. We have so much to learn from each other.

I also want to give a big shout out to the Australian and NZ Parkinson's Support Group on facebook - this group which is run by volunteers provides essential support to those living with Parky and their loved ones. Thank you.

Two clips today:

  1. The first gives an insight to the last few months and where I'm at

  2. The second, my 'post-script' was added after I started to experience the onset of another headache.

Take care, Son

In any case, must away. Have a computer issue to fix for Ann. We still run two working offices - personal not work - in our house with two complete computer systems, printers, scanners etc. Sometimes I feel like a computer support person as well as a carer😀😂 Talk again, Hope you get to feel better as the day goes on.

Hmm, Ann, my wife, certainly had a rough time during Menopause, but do not recall migraines or headaches being one of the issues. However, we were both glad when it was over.

The other thing I wonder is if this is completely unrelated to Parkinson's and more related to perimenopause instead. The challenge of being a middle-aged woman!

Hi Rex. Thank you so much for your comment. Yes, I have seen this article. The challenge for me is that I haven't experienced migraine or severe headache in the past so this is new, not a continuing health concern. In saying that, I think Maria is spot on about understanding triggers and getting a plan to manage it - mine is a work in progress :)
