Team YOP for P2P Update

Updated: Nov 14, 2021

14 November

Hi everyone. One week to go! It is hard to believe we are finally here. (Photo Credit - Oliver Whone)

A few points to cover:

Racing packs

Please pick up your participating packs from Running Edge. Have a look at the event booklet about details for the day. Most importantly: walkers need to be there by 6:45am at latest - earlier if you want to put a bag on the bus (with warm gear for after).

Tips on preparation

Check our TBT-YOP-P2P FB page for tips on the day. Thank you Yvette Edward for all your hard work and motivation.

After party - change of location

Because the weather continues to be unstable, we have moved the After Party to our house. Please come to 18 Taroona Crescent, Taroona.

We'll be heading home straight after the event. Come on over when you are ready as some friends and family will be there if we're not! All welcome :)

If you have any questions, please reach out and let me know.

24 October

Hi everyone. I hope the training is going well! In 4 weeks time we'll hopefully be nursing tired muscles but feeling very happy with ourselves :).

Our socks arrived late last week. There is a chance we may resemble chicken (legs) when wearing them but they are bright and happy!

Thank you to Mr Andrew Wilkie MP and UPC\AC Renewables Australia whose contributions funded our sock purchase.

And Ta-Dah - invite to our After Party is below. Hope you can make it. Son x

28 September

We have another sponsor! (okay, I'm a little obsessed with Elmo).

Thank you to UPC/AC Renewables Australia for coming on board and supporting our team.

The donations provided by Oaked Gold and UPC/AC will fund our t-shirts and go towards our after party!

Thank you to both our sponsors.

Alex Miles has finalised t-shirt design except for some logos on the rear of the shirt. Images of the t-shirts are below.

T-shirt sizes Please send me your t-shirt sizes (email from Sunday 26 September asap.

Socks: I can confirm socks are listed in Men's sizes. Unfortunately we can't fund both the socks and the After party and they are likely to cost about $8-9 a pair. I'll keep you posted. If you decide you don't want them, please let me know asap.

Sunday walks

We had a great walk last Sunday around Knocklofty. Thanks to Yvette to organising! Check out the private FB group for training program, exercise instruction and walks info - https://www.facebook.com/groups/208143641378696

24 September Update

Nineteen days ago we started a team to walk P2P so we could raise awareness for Young Onset Parky's. We are humbled by people's enthusiasm to come on board, whether by joining the team, making a donation, helping us to pull it together. Sometimes it has been all three.

We are thrilled to announce that as of 23 September:

Team Young Onset Parky's has grown to 43 participants and we extend a warm welcome to all our walkers and runners! We have people of all ages and thanks to friends willing to walk the Point to Pub we now have a posse of young friends walking as well - including our two kids. We are very proud of you all.

We have raised almost $5,500 for the Shake It Up Foundation. Thank you to all those who have donated and shared our fundraising page. It is much appreciated. Here it is again if you'd like to share.

Thank you everyone. We could not do it without you.

A special shout out this week to the following amazing people:

Yvette Edward from Ever Fit with Yvette for her commitment to prepare our P2P team with a specially designed training plan, exercise instruction, walks and support. I can honestly say that I couldn't do this work without Yvette's support!

Designer and artist Alex Miles for designing our t-shirts. I've almost calmed down from working through the options with Alex but we can't wait to share the final design with you! The photo below may provide a hint of what is to come but that's all we are saying!

Keep warm, keep dry and keep on walking :)
